Wimborne Orienteers invite you to our SWOL event at Bere Wood on 2nd November.
This event will be used for the WIM Founder's Trophy 2025.

Event Information

Dress:
Full arm and leg cover - no shorts or vests.

Travel directions:
Bere Woods (w3w ///legs.chilled.hazel). This is a sharp left turn off the A35 so please give plenty of warning to other drivers. 300, 200 & 100m signs will be placed on the road to give you warning. Parking is along a single tracked road as directed by parking attendants.
The track is one way so you will continue up the track following signs and exit at the other end coming out in a different place on the A35.

Other instructions:
Whistles are compulsory.
No dogs permitted.

Terrain:
A mixture of runnable woods with marshy areas.

Mapping:
Scale 1:10,000. 5m contours. Last used for the Compass Sport Cup qualifier Feb 24. All courses printed on A4 waterproof paper. Control descriptions for all courses on the map and loose in the start lanes.
SIAC enabled Sport Ident electronic punching will be used.

Portaloos and a catering wagon selling locally produced meals.

All competitors must ensure they are fully hydrated before starting, there will be water at the finish. Carry water, reduce your course length or walk the course to ensure you achieve your aim safely.
For civilians participating in Army orienteering, Public Liability Insurance is provided by Towergate; individuals are advised to have their own private accident insurance. This event is conducted iaw British Orienteering Rules 2023 and land booked iaw the AOA DIO Licence and JSP907.
