Courses

Blue 6.3km 105m climb
14 Controls. Technical Dificulty 5
* Controls on any features particularly those demanding careful map reading to locate

Short Green 3.2km 70m climb

Score
60 minutes to visit as many of 30 controls, worth between 10 & 50 ponts (total 600) as you can. You lose 10 points per full and/or part minute over the hour. You gain 5 points per minute and/or part minute under 60 minutes BUT only if you have visited all the controls on your map. There will be some easier controls but also some overlap with the Blue and Short Green courses/ The technical difficulty depends on your direction of approach determined by the control sequence that you choose. Optimal route for all controls is about 10km with 150m climb.

Withdrawals policy
For the organiser it's always appreciated if we can have a good idea of numbers likely to turn up (rather than have a surge of late entries). We appreciate you may want to be sure you're fit as you don't lose an entry fee through injury (or other life issues). Therefore for all WSX events, withdrawals will be available up to (at least) midnight of the day before the event via the Racesignup web page for this event. By default the full value of your entry will be credited to your racesignup account with Wessex-OC, to be redeemed on entry to any future WSX events. If you are unlikely to enter another WSX event, we can arrange a refund to your original payment card, less a small admin cost of 60p (currently), if you contact the organiser before the date of the event.

Timing
Sport Ident using SIAC enabled controls. All competitors must physically dib at both the start and finish.
Registration open from 10:30 for hire card collection (SI Card5 only) and any last minute changes to entry details.

Starts
Starts from 11:00 to 12 noon. There are no allocated start times so just go to the start when you are ready. The Start is about 300m from registration.

Finish
The finish will be about a 400m route back to registration and will be marked.
Courses close at 13:00 at which time we will start to collect in the controls. Therefore you should not expect to be able to complete your course after this time
All competitors must report to download even if you fail to complete your course. Failure to do so may result in a search being mounted for you

Facilities
The Forestry England toilets should be open.

Dogs
Dogs are allowed if kept on a lead. Any mess created by your dog must be picked up and removed from the site.

Cancellation
In the unlikely event of cancellation a message will be placed on the Wessex Orienteering Club’s web site and an email sent via Race Signup to all entrants,

If there is a cancellation Wessex Orienteering Club reserves the right to retain a fraction of the entry fees to cover expenses already committed.

Competitor self-help withdrawals can be made at any time up to midnight of the day before the event. We know that you'd rather be running but injury, illness or other life crises disrupt our plans. Withdrawal through Racesignup (manage entry) will automatically result in a credit for the full entry fee which can be redeemed at a future WSX event. It will also result in a place being freed up for another potential competitor.
