Orienteering in the New Forest, Hincheslea and Yew Tree Bottom

Join us for a local event in the New Forest with courses for all skills and all ages.

If you are new to orienteering or new to the club or just want to talk about how to progress with your orienteering, one of our coaches will be on hand to help.

Please note: Under 16s that are running blue, green, short green, or orange must start between 10.30 - 11.00. This is due to there being a road crossing. Road crossings must be manned for under 16s. The road crossing at this event will be manned for the first part of the start window until all under 16s are back safely.

The car park and event centre are at the Wilverley Inclosure Car park.

Trains run from Southampton Central and Bournemouth to Sway station which is 2.5 miles from the car park.

We are sharing the car park with the general public and space may be a bit tight. Please park only in the spaces provided. Do not park on the verges or on the sides of the entrance roads.

Please note this is a busy car park. Please take care when walking through it.

Timing
Registration: 10:15 - 12:30
Starts : 10:30 - 12:30
10.30 - 11:00* - under 16s running blue, green, short green, or orange without an adult accompanying them
Courses close: 14:00

If you have your own SI Dibber you may go straight to the start.

The start and finish are within 450m of the car park.

Map and Terrain
1:10,000 map on A4 waterproof paper, 5m contours.

Large open area with an area of runnable woodland. There are marshes and a number of out of bounds areas.

Facilities
There is a permanent toilet at the North-Eastern end of the car park.

Road Crossings
There is road crossing on all course apart from the yellow. There will be a control to punch either side of the crossing.

Dogs
Dogs are allowed in the event centre. They must be kept under control at all times in the car park due to the number of people and vehicles in the area.

Dogs are allowed on the courses. Dogs must be kept under control at all times. Please do not run with more than one dog and give priority to other runners at control sites. Dog owners are liable and responsible for any situations involving their dog.
