Orienteering in the New Forest, Wilverley near Lyndhurst

Join us for a local event in the New Forest with courses for all skills and all ages.

If you are new to orienteering or new to the club or just want to talk about how to progress with your orienteering, one of our coaches will be on hand to help.

To guarantee a map for your preferred course enter by Sunday 9th
November. Entries are open until Friday14th November subject to map numbers.

Orienteering experience required.

Green 4.7km 75m climb
Orienteering experience required.

Light Green 4.2km 70m climb
Suitable for improving orienteers

Orange 3.4km 55m climb
Novice course. Mostly on paths, but corners can be cut. Suitable for improvers.

Yellow 2.2km 30m climb
Novice course. All on paths. Suitable for beginners.

British Orienteering non-member supplement: £2.00

Juniors are under 21 on 31st December.

Novice fee applies to adults entering on the Yellow or Orange courses.

There will be a charge for lost timing chips of £32 (£68 for SIAC)
Event Information

Location
Parking and the event centre are in the Wilverley Plain Car Park. Take the Burley/Sway turning off the A35 and follow the signs towards Sway, for approx 2 Km. Car Park entrance will be signed.

Registration/Download will be set up close to the Toilet Block. Eastern end of the Car Park.

Parking
Parking in the Wilverley Car Park. Please park only on the Gravel and park tidily. The Car Park is popular with the general public. Please share transport as much as possible.

Timing
Help, advice and SI Dibber hire: 10:15 - 12:00
Starts : 10:30 - 12:15
Courses close: 14:00

Start at any time. If you have your own SI Dibber you may go straight to the start.

Start and Finish are both close to the event centre.

Facilities
There is a public toilet at the Eastern end of the car park.

Map and Terrain
Scale 1:10,000, updated 2020, minor corrections Autumn 2025. Loose control descriptions will be at the start and printed on the map.

Typical New Forest wooded terrain, runnable woodland with patches of denser conifer in places and some marshy areas.

Dogs
Dogs are allowed but must be kept on a lead and under control at all times.
