We invite you to enter our urban event in Thamesmead, near Abbey Wood at the south eastern end of the Elizabeth Line. The event forms part of the UK Urban League for 2024.
Safety
You must not attend if you or a member of your household has COVID-19 symptoms,
You must adhere to the British Orienteering Participant Code of Conduct.
Public transport
Public transport may be the easiest option to get to this event. The Event Centre is a ten minute walk from Abbey Wood station at the south eastern end of the Elizabeth Line. also served by Thameslink and South Eastern services through London Bridge station. There is plenty of space to leave kit at the Event Centre.
Parking
If coming by car, there is free parking on the south side of Bazalgette Way. Park towards the western end near postcode SE2 9AN.
There will be an orienteering kite on the north side of Baxalgette Way opposite the entrance to the taped route south from there to the Event Centre.
You do not need to come to the Event Centre before your run unless you are collecting a SI card. Instead, you can follow the tapes west to the western end of Bazalgette Way and from there onwards to the Start (about 400m).
Event centre
The Event Centre is The Nest, Cygnet Square, London SE2 9FA. w3w tips.scare.level. GPS coordinates 51.49772, 0.12248. See the DFOK website for details as to how to get to the Event Centre.
This is one of the communal buildings on the Estate. This will include Enquiries and Download.
There are toilets at the Event Centre.
There will be a first aid kit at the Event Centre for largely self-use and a first aid trained club member in attendance.
Map
The map is 1:4,000 for all courses printed on waterproof paper.
Most courses have an A3 map and course 1 has a double sided A3 map.
The area is essentially flat. There are very few contours even at the 2m contour interval and no height gain is shown on the maps.

Start
The start is 600m from the Event Centre.
You can start at any time from 10:30 to 12:30.
Electronic punching
Contactless punching will be facilitated but it is a Punching Start and a Punching Finish.
Control descriptions
Control descriptions are printed on the map. Loose control descriptions will be available in the Start lanes.
Finish
The finish is 600m from the Event Centre. Please proceed straight to download at the Event Centre after you have completed your run.
The courses close at 2pm.
Results
Results will not be on display at the event. There will be a QR code on your map which can be scanned to access live provisional results. The full results will be available on the DFOK website, www.dfok.co.uk, in the late afternoon of the event date.
