Part of the Wessex Region Night League 2024/25
A 60 minute orienteering score event on the edge of Winchester

This is the 11th event in the Wessex Region Night League 2024/25 season, using a newly mapped area on the edge of Winchester. A score event where as many controls as possible can be visited in any order within 60-minutes.

Event Information

Directions
The event centre will be at Badger Farm Community Centre, SO22 4QB.

From the Badger Farm roundabout turn into Sainsburys car park and head towards the far end, past Sainsburys itself. Park at end of the car park near the Friarsgate Surgery. Entrance to the hall is on the right of the surgery as you look at it from the carpark.

There is a small garden near the hall entrance which we have been asked not to enter, so please just make your way straight into the hall.

No muddy shoes inside the event centre please.

Map/Area
1:4,000 on A3 waterproof paper, 2.5m contours. Mainly housing estates with some parks & mixed scrubland.

Course
1 hour straight score event, as per Wessex Night League guidelines.

Hired dibbers will be made available in the hall. Controls are SIAC enabled.

Start will be adjacent to the hall.

Everyone must report to Download in the hall afterwards.

Conduct
Please make yourself aware of and abide by the British Orienteering Participant Code of Conduct.

Timing
Registration: 17:45 to 18:45
Starts: 18:00 to 19:15
Courses close: promptly at 20:15 please

Facilities
Toilets and tea/coffee making facilities available in the event centre until approximately 8.30pm. You are very welcome to bring your own food into the hall but please be prepared to take your own rubbish home.

Safety
All competitors must wear hi-viz tops and have sufficient lights to complete their course. Please take care when crossing any road, particularly the busy ones which are marked on the map in a darker colour - safe crossing points are marked.

There are a few low walls and the occasional bollard to be aware of around the housing estates. Off paths there may be roots and mud/chalk, particularly in the scrubland that can pose falling hazards.

All juniors under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

Dogs
Dogs are allowed on the courses, but must be kept on a lead and under control at all times. Dogs are not allowed in the event centre.
